PRESENCE - A landowner on a South African farm focuses on the life of a white landowner and farmer, Hertha Mitchell-Innes’ of South Africa. Herta Mitchell-Innes, an Austrian native, decided 30 years ago to live in South Africa as a nun and nurse. Soon she decided to resign from her former life to live with a South African farmer near KwaZulu Natal.
The film portrays living and farming conditions on a South African farm, as it examines the complications associated with running a farm in a crisis-ridden country where fear and loss of security dominates everyday life.
